When I got to the trail by the river I slowed down and walked, and nearly ran into a large snowflake suspended in midair. It was cold and gray and windy, and the snowflake was just hanging there on what I guessed was a strand of spider web, even though I couldn’t see it. It was a big fat snowflake, about an eight of an inch, mostly symmetrical but with an extra blob on one of its arms.
I thought about all the things that would need to happen to bring that snowflake to my attention, and it seemed like a once-in-a-lifetime coincidence, so I ran home to get my camera, then drove the pickup through the fields to get back faster.
Alas, it was gone, so I have no picture for you. Instead, I’ll give you a picture of all my neighbors, who got together to celebrate my brother Jeff’s election to the Milaca School Board.
