I’ve been catching up on some This American Life episodes lately. The one called Global Pool of Money (I think) gives a really interesting synopsis of the mortgage meltdown.
One called the Prosecutor was an interesting story about the DOJ lawyer who prosecuted the sleeper cell terrorism case in Detroit. He got a conviction, then lost his job and saw the conviction overturned. Interesting mix of counter-terrorism, internal DOJ politics.
Catching up on the Kunstler Cast. James Howard Kunstler is a doomsayer who used to write for Rolling Stone and now writes about how the world’s going to heck and we’ll have to reconfigure our society and personal lives.
I also listen to Fresh Air now and then, and learned Spanish from Coffee Break Spanish and Spanish Pod 101.
An hour and a half in the car every day. Sports talk and Both Things Considered get old.
