Through the grapevine

I guess I must be a lot more intimidating than I feel.

I got second hand comments twice yesterday about two different people being mad because of my video of the Onamia City Council meeting that I posted to our website (and this blog — see below).

Do people not know how to use the phone or email? Or do they think it’s appropriate to send me their comments through mediators — either reporters or ad sales people?

If someone has a problem with me or something I’ve done, I wish they’d tell me about it. I’m not that hard to find.

Good stories this week about fishing allocations, the 3-year-old assaulted at the drop-off day care at the casino, and the Onamia City Council’s dealings with Nexus and their opponents.

Plus features on a woman who knits hats and the pine wood derby and ice racing in Garrison. Should be a new video of ice races and a new fishing report on the website today.

I’m off to the county board. Yee hah.

  1. Hi Brett,I have never met you so I wouldn’t now if you are intimidating or not. I wonder if anyone remembers that photo of you taken with the Recipe of the Week back in 2004. It went great with the recipe for Lunatic’s black bean soup! Sometimes images just stick. Maybe thats why you seem unapproachable…just a thought!Next thought, when someone emails the Mess where does it go? I haven’t noticed any direct email addresses. Like, Brett.Larson@the mess.Thought number three…have you heard of Ning.com? It’s a great social networking site. I know you are trying to connect people on the web and I love your links to other blogs. With Ning each member gets their own page to design as they want, to blog, etc. Check out http://www.studentsspeakout.org.Students from around MN are connecting. It would be kinda cool to have a Mille Lacs area network. Maybe there is one and I don’t know it.Last thought…Maybe you could do an article on this to motivate. I barely noticed the little add in the right hand corner. That’s all…for now:)Carolyn

  3. Lots of good ideas. Thanks. We’re working on making the Messenger site a hub for networking. There’s lots of networking sites out there: myspace, facebook, bebo (my daughter’s favorite). Sounds like ning is similar. Maybe a story would be interesting comparing the possibilities. I’d like to do more coverage of the Internet in the paper.
