Weird

The skating rink got wrecked. Long story. Ice is unpredictable.

So today I decided to fix it. I went out and sprayed water on it from about 10 am to 3 pm, trying to fill in all the uneven spots that had developed. Long story. I won’t tell it.

After a couple hours, I put my robe on over my coat and snow pants and brought a chair out to the ice, and my book. I read the book and sprayed the ice in my cozy robe for a couple more hours.

My neighbor Dana came out and said, “You know, this makes you weird.”

Yes. It was warm, and it felt good to be out in the natural light.

  1. Brett, Thanks for that image! It started my Monday morning off right. Wierd is where it’s at!Because then you are always free to be you…no worries. We love the rink in Isle. My daghter just started skating and she is loving it. Took to it right off the bat.I hear it’s a lot of upkeep to have a home rink. Has this been true for you or just lately. We’d love to make one.Carolyn

  3. The rink still needs work. I’ll try again this weekend, but I don’t think it’ll be warm enough to sit out there and read.If you plan it right and start out right, it can be easy. Our rink suffered from a lack of good preparation this year, and some unexpected and unredictable flukes.
