I guess Roseanne Barr misses the limelight, so she’s jumping into the presidential campaign. It’s probably not too smart to take on Oprah though. Here’s what your least favorite national anthem singer and washed-up sitcom star said about the queen of talk: “You are a closeted republican and chose Barak (sic) Obama because you do not like other women who actually stand for something to working American Women besides glamour, angels, hollywood and dieting!”
I like that last line and agree with it. Glamour, angels, hollywood and dieting. That’s funny.
But I also like Barack. I do think he’s the only Democrat with a ghost of a chance of changing the tone in Washington. But he probably can’t, because the nasty tone is mostly a result of the media fanning the flames of partisan rancour. If Hillary wins, it’ll be four or eight more years of daily mean-spirited attacks from across the media spectrum. But I think she’d do a good job as president. If Barack wins with a wave of independent support, it’s possible that the righties will be too scared to be too nasty.
If McCain wins, he might use his old “maverick” status to be more bipartisan than Bush and the rest of the Republicans have been, but I’ll be surprised if he does. Of all the white guys in that party, I’d be most happy with him as president.
